I hold a Bachelor of Arts in French and English Literature from the University of Lausanne (2011) and developed a deep interest in Medieval Literature during my undergraduate studies. This led me to pursue a Master of Science by Research at the University of Edinburgh in "English Literature: Medieval", where I was awarded a First for both my academic work and my dissertation, “Je te ferai volontiers le livre”: The Evolution of Merlin as an Authoritative Figure in Old French and Middle English.
After my studies, I spent ten years in Human Resources within the Swiss pharmaceutical industry, where I held various roles, including managerial positions. This experience honed my attention to detail, my ability to meet tight deadlines, and my flexibility in adapting to shifting priorities—all valuable skills I now apply in the publishing world.
Driven by an unrelenting curiosity and passion for knowledge, I transitioned in 2022 to pursue a career in indexing, proofreading, and copy-editing, specializing in humanities-related titles, both academic and non-academic.
Why Hire Me?
I chose to specialise as an indexer, proofreader, and copy-editor within the humanities because I believe that the person entrusted with bringing your work to its final publishing stages should share a genuine passion for the subject matter. This is not merely about professional expertise—it is about a sincere interest in your work. When I am indexing, proofreading, or copy-editing, I approach it as if I am part of your intended readership, ensuring that the index or edits are carefully tailored to enhance the reader’s experience.
I recognise that every project is unique. Publishers often have varying guidelines, schedules, and expectations, and I am committed to working with utmost flexibility. For instance, I recommend initiating the indexing process before the final typesetting is completed. This allows for the final weeks prior to submission deadlines to be spent refining the draft rather than creating it from scratch. By planning ahead, I can help to avoid any last-minute 'rush fees'—something that is all too common in the industry.
